Nikiti at night: summer and moonlit (drone video)
The beautiful town of Nikiti is the capital of the Municipality of Sithonia in Halkidiki. It is located at a relatively short distance from Thessaloniki (90 km), at the beginning of the Sithonia peninsula and is an ideal location for those who want to explore the magical Sithonia.
The main beach of Nikiti is a large open beach, easily accessible, with shallow, warm and crystal clear waters. It is ideal for families with small children. It is easily accessible on foot or by car, from almost every point of Nikiti, while it has many facilities, as a result of which it receives a blue flag every year. On one side – at the beginning of the beach – is the church of Agioi Theodors, while on the other side there is the small boat marina of Nikiti, which is ideal for afternoon walks. In the old settlement there are alleys and cobblestones where one can walk and admire the preserved houses from 1830, the church of Agios Nikitas and the old school. Be sure to buy excellent honey directly from the producers at outdoor stalls or shops. For mountain lovers, a walk in Itamos is a challenge. It is a beautiful mountain, a protected habitat with important flora and fauna. It is suitable for walking or cycling routes as there are comfortable forest roads and many signs. At various points one can admire amazing views both from the side of Toroneos and from the side of the bay of Mount Athos where the imposing form of Mount Athos dominates.
NIKITI BEACHES
The coastline of Nikiti covers about 25km including some unique beaches. It is the white sand, the crystal waters, the vegetation that reaches to the seashore, that create this sense of the exotic. The most popular beaches near Nikiti are the following:
Kastri Nikitis – Agios Ioannis or Ai-Yiannis – Kovio Coast – Kalogria/Spathies – Lagomandra Coast.
